Becoming a Colt (Donkey)
Key Scripture: Mark 11:1–11
THE SPIRIT OF A COLT
The spirit of a colt is the spirit God requires from us as His children.
As a disciple, have you ever thought that Jesus freeing you from captivity or bringing you out of a difficult challenge or situation could actually mean He wants to use you?
Sometimes, we see our deliverance only as an escape from a difficult situation, but God can have a greater purpose. Jesus can set you free because He wants to carry you and make you useful for His purpose.
WILLING AND OBEDIENT
Being willing means that our hearts are ready to align with God. Being obedient means putting God’s Word and morals into action.
We begin to experience stability and eat the good of the land when we are willing and obedient.
When we are obedient and willing, and become like a colt for God to ride on, we begin to experience peace, stability, abundance, and the good things that come from the Lord.
Jesus wants you to become a colt so that you will be taken care of while carrying Him.
When we genuinely follow Jesus and make up our minds to follow Him, we receive favour that we could not have received on our own. When you carry Jesus, your life becomes more fulfilled, established, and meaningful.
WHEN YOU CARRY JESUS, ACCESS CHANGES
When you obey and become a colt, you can have access to places you could not have accessed without Christ.
You can receive honour and special care that would not have naturally been given to you.
When you carry Jesus, you begin to eat what you would not have eaten and experience opportunities and favour that could only come because Christ is with you.
Our destiny can only truly make sense when we carry Jesus.
JOY AFTER THE NIGHT
But there is something we must understand: joy comes after we have endured the night.
It is not always joy. There will be moments of difficulty, waiting, sacrifice, and endurance. But it becomes joy when you allow Jesus to sit on you and lead your life.
If you can willingly carry Jesus as your load, you will be set apart.
The colt was not carrying an ordinary man. It was carrying Jesus. And because it carried Jesus, it became part of something greater than itself.
WHERE JESUS LEADS YOU
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, He went straight to the temple.
This teaches us something powerful: when you allow Jesus to ride on you, He will not lead you into wrong places. He will lead you into places that glorify the Lord.
So, as disciples, our prayer should not only be:
“Lord, set me free.”
It should also be:
“Lord, now that You have set me free, use me. Let me carry You. Let my life become a vessel through which You can fulfil Your purpose.”
Be willing. Be obedient. Become a colt for Jesus.
Carry Him, and allow Him to determine where your life goes.
PRAYER POINT
Lord Jesus Christ, anywhere they have tied me, just as they tied the colt, right now, by Your Spirit, loose me and untie me.
