Healing By The Power Of The Cross

Healing By The Power Of The Cross

Key Scripture: 1 Peter 2:24

Our Lord Jesus Christ personally carried the burden of our sins on the cross so that we would no longer have to carry what He had already taken upon Himself.

On the cross, Jesus declared, “It is finished.” (John 19:30)

This means that the work He came to accomplish was completed. Yet, many times, we continue to carry burdens that Christ has already carried for us.

The question is: What load are you still carrying?

Can you confess and testify that you are living a good life?

What are the wounds you are still carrying?

What are the burdens, wounds, pain, afflictions, or struggles that you are still carrying today?

Jesus bore wounds on His body so that we could experience healing. As 1 Peter 2:24 tells us, “By whose stripes ye were healed.”

Healing was already purchased for us through the finished work of Christ. Therefore, as believers, we must have faith in the power of the cross and in what Jesus accomplished for us. Our faith enables us to appropriate and experience the benefits that Christ made available to us.

Psalm 103:2–5 reminds us:

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases…”

The cross, therefore, gives us access to the benefits of redemption—beginning with the forgiveness of sins and extending to healing and restoration. We are called to put our faith in the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ and believe that what He accomplished is sufficient.

However, faith is not only personal. There is also a corporate dimension of faith. God has placed us in a community of believers so that we can stand together, strengthen one another, and support one another in faith.

Galatians 6:2 says:

“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”

As a church, we are not meant to walk alone. We are a family and a community where believers can carry one another’s burdens, encourage one another, pray for one another, and strengthen one another in faith.

The work of the cross is finished. Our responsibility is to believe, appropriate what Christ has made available to us, and walk in the benefits of His finished work while helping others do the same.
