Preacher: Father Abraham

The Storm Is Producing Spiritual Strength

The length of your storm is often determined by the depth of the endurance God is producing in you. Storms come to produce patience, and when patience has fully developed, we become mature and complete.

Our storms produce spiritual strength, which is the most important of all strengths.

A storm is the school in which God builds and develops our spiritual strength.

Though storms may shake us, God uses them to strengthen us spiritually. James does not say “if” you encounter storms, but “when” you encounter them. This reminds us that storms are inevitable; they are part of the journey of faith.

  • When we face a storm, our question should not be, “How can I get out of this storm?” but rather, “What is God producing in me through this storm?” This is because escaping every storm may mean missing the lessons God intends to teach us through it.
  • There are dimensions of growth, character, faith, endurance, and spiritual maturity that cannot be developed in a place of comfort. Some things only manifest through the pressures and challenges of life’s storms.
  • James 1:2–4 makes us understand that the trials we experience produce something in us. They may produce patience, maturity, divine wisdom, and a deeper dependence on God.

Whatever you may be seeing in the midst of the storm, God sees the product the storm is producing in you. You may be seeing delay, but God may be seeing maturity—the capacity you need to handle the greatness He is preparing to bring into your life when the time comes.

Your storm can reveal whether your confidence and strength are truly in God or in something else. Some battles require us to keep trusting God until we come out victorious.

Storms come to teach us to grow in faith and to make positive, faith-filled confessions. In the midst of chaos, we must be able to declare, “I can stand even when everything around me is falling apart, because my strength is in God.”

Sometimes, our greatest victory is simply that we are still standing in the midst of the storm. God does not want you to come out of the storm the same person you were when you entered it. He wants you to come out better in character, more dependent on Him, deeper in prayer, stronger in faith, and wiser in understanding.

Three Things to Remember When Going Through the Storms of Life

1. Do not waste the storm

Instead, ask God, “What are You teaching me through this?”

2. Do not abandon your faith

Your circumstances may change, but God will never change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

3. Do not stop standing

For God tells us not to grow weary, because in due time we shall reap and rejoice.

What is certain is that every storm has an expiry date. You may have entered the storm with questions, but you will come out with deeper revelations, greater confidence, and a better understanding of God.

You may have entered the storm sick, but you will come out healed. You may have entered a place of lack, but you will come out not lacking or needing anything.

Prayer Point

1. Lord, take me out of this storm and set me free.
